Established in 2008, BMJ Design is a full-service studio, specializing in architecture, interiors and furniture design. The principal architect, Brigitte Butler, has extensive international experience with projects ranging from; Golf resorts in Crete and Cyprus, Home Redesigns, and Retail Spaces, to the acclaimed Desmond and Leah Tutu Bridge, spanning the M1 in Johannesburg.

With more recent projects ranging from Sneaker Lab Main offices, Paint & Place (Free world), Hudson’s Burger joint (Kloof street), Knead Seapoint, Knead Bakery-Sanlam and Private residential homes along the Garden Route, Western Cape.

The space created, the orientation of the rooms and the outside area is absolutely wonderful. Even the alley/courtyard, created to comply with the necessity of having a drying yard, has turned out to be a fantastic space and feature. AND of course, this has completely transformed the whole outlook as one walks in. A clear view through the house and out over the deck to the (still very small) garden… with no washing yard in sight. My wish to have a Braai Fireplace perhaps does dominate the deck a bit, but I love it!
